Please note that School Counselors do not provide “mental health therapy” All services will be brief and educationally related. Referrals for outside counseling services are available for children in need of additional support 

The school counselor can help students with:

  • Working through friendship problems
  • Working well with others
  • Feeling good about themselves
  • Managing feelings (stress, anger, worry etc.)
  • Problem-solving
  • Learning to make good decisions
  • Dealing with peer pressure and bullying
  • Confidence in the classroom
  • Adjusting to a new school
  • Grief and loss
  • Assisting with anything that affects ability to learn
  • Preparing for junior high
  • And much more!

The school counselor can help parents with:

  • Referrals to community resources
  • Exploring ways to help your child succeed
  • Improving parent-child communications
  • Providing information on a variety of developmental changes throughout childhood
  • Advocating for your child
  • Anything to assist needs within the educational environment
